Author instructions
Dr. Laurence Klotz, editor-in-chief, is pleased to receive submissions from urologists and other physicians involved in studies of urologic diseases. All material submitted for publication must be sent exclusively to CUAJ.
Manuscripts should adhere to the standards set by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (www.icmje.org). If you have any questions about your submission, please contact the Editorial Director, Josephine Sciortino, at josephine.sciortino@cua.org.
Your submission should include:
- Title
- Names, addresses, email addresses, and positions of all authors; indicate the name of the corresponding author
- Copyright statement to the effect of: The corresponding author has the right to grant on behalf of all authors, and does grant on behalf of all authors, an exclusive license (or non exclusive for government employees) on a worldwide basis to the Canadian Urological Association Journal to permit this article (if accepted) to be published in the CUAJ.
- Competing interest statement: A conflict of interest exists when an author or the author's institution has financial or personal relationships with other people or organizations that inappropriately influence (bias) his or her actions. Financial relationships are easily identifiable, but conflicts can also occur because of personal relationships, academic competition, or intellectual passion. A conflict can be actual or potential, and full disclosure to the editor-in-chief is the safest course. All submissions to CUAJ must include disclosure of all relationships that could be viewed as presenting a potential conflict of interest.
- Abstract: A clearly written abstract is crucial for the purpose of peer and editorial review of the manuscript. The abstract should contain the following sections: background (the rationale for the study), methods (how the study was done), results (the principal findings), Interpretation (a discussion of the results). Maximum word length is 250.
- Main manuscript: The main text should not be longer than 2000 words, not including references, tables and figures. Special dispensation for longer articles may be requested from the editor.
- For tables, figures and graphics: Please indicate the file format and compression type in an email message or on the disk label. The original file should be sent in the native format in which the application was created. A hard copy proof of all digital art MUST be submitted for verification purposes (fax: 514-875-0205). If the electronic file is unusable for any reason or no electronic file exists, you will be asked to supply camera-ready art or data. We will acknowledge receipt of your digital art submission within a few days. If you do not hear from us, please confirm that the file has been received.
