Instructions for writing letters

CUAJ welcomes letters to the editor. Letters are considered for publication, provided they do not contain material that has been submitted or published elsewhere.

Letters must not exceed 500 words (excluding references) and must be received within 6 months of publication of the article. Letters should be submitted by email (journal@cua.org).

We encourage but do not require submissions to be referenced. Letters can have no more than 5 references and 1 figure or table, and should not have more than 3 authors. Letters should include the names, academic degrees, and primary institutional affiliations for all authors, and the e-mail address for the corresponding author.

Letters should be succinct and contribute substantially to the topic under discussion. Letters will be rejected for publication if they contain language that is offensive, abusive, potentially libellous, or language that violates the privacy rights of any third party. We will not accept letters that give information about individual patients without consent, are incomprehensible or contain unauthorized copyrighted material or commercial advertising. When you submit a letter, you are responsible for disclosing all financial and personal relationships that might bias their work. To prevent ambiguity, authors must state explicitly whether potential conflicts do or do not exist.
